Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Mission Summary?

A Mission Summary is a country-specific document that captures your operational volume, risk calculations, and compliance data. With UAS.flights, you can generate an 80% ready Mission Summary in under 10 clicks.

Which authorities accept the Mission Summary?

Our templates are based on best practices from several European aviation authorities. Since requirements evolve, you can always edit the exported text to match local requests.

What is included in the Free Plan?

The Free Plan includes flight geography definition, contingency volume calculation, ground risk buffer calculation, adjacent areas calculation, 10 predefined UAS models, and PDF export.

How is the Single User License different?

In addition to the Free Plan features, the Single User License unlocks DOCX and KML export, and KML import to continue missions where you left off.

Can my whole organization use UAS.flights?

Yes. The Organizational License includes two single-user licenses, a custom domain, organization-wide mission saving, and the option to add extra users.

How accurate are the population density calculations?

The population density data is provided from official census data used in the specific countries. Those data are usually available at a resolution of 200m x 200m. While this may typically not be accurate in many situations since census data is not reflective of where people actually are located at each moment. The UAS.flights team recommend you to always account local specificities in the ground risk assessment in order to justify your ground risk class. We note furthermore that depending on the exact altitude of the operation, the appropriate resolution according to the JARUS SORA V2.5 may be different.

How accurate is the air risk assessment?

The air risk assessment takes into account airspace types and does not typically account for local specificities as paragliders, parachutists, hot air balloons and other airspace stakeholders. This should typically be researched separately and complemented into the mission file air risk section whenever this is required by the competent aviation authority for an accurate air risk assessment (e.g. for strategic air risk mitigations or other local considerations).

Do I have to include all the calculations of the ground risk buffer inside the mission file?

This will typically depend on what you have agreed upon with your aviation authority and how you choose to build your processes in your Operations Manual. The calculation methods could typically be agreed upon prior to elaborating the mission file or could be part of it.

Are adjacent area calculation necessary and to which extent?

The adjacent area calculation are part of the SORA V2.5 method and the average population density will allow to derive the requirements in relation with containment (Low, Medium or High).

I am unsure I know what to do to comply with containment or for a higher ground risk?

Compliance is not something to be underestimated since it can mean some important design changes to your drone or some more advanced operational requirements (e.g. internal audits). If you are lost in your SAIL or containment assessment, we recommend you to contact our team for support at contact@uas.flights

Can I edit the exported Mission Summary?

Yes. Even though the app generates compliant text automatically, you can edit the content directly in UAS.flights before export to adapt it to your specific authority.

When will the service be available in my country?

We are working on providing the service in as many countries as we can, however the data is not always available and other challenges may occur for our team along the way. If you are interested in a country in particular don't hesitate to let us know and we will prioritize it accordingly.
